The Garage – El Garaje, Jerez

We’ve passed El Garaje (the Garage) many times in our walks around Jerez. Opposite the Souk (Zoco), it’s always busy on Saturdays – power-ballads and rock hits from the 80s and 90s blasting.

What’s less known is that during the week, their menu del dia comes in at just €6 for a starter, main, bread and drink. What does €6 of food get you?

Linda and Alba, our guest today, started with a rich and creamy salmorejo well presented and über tasty. I started with a pasta salad that was light and well dressed.

Mains arrived: tender chicken fillets for everyone, hand cut fries and salad — lightly dressed and with a bit of ham. It was some of the best lunch food I’ve had in Jerez.

The service was friendly, the white stone and brick walls a nice complement to the high wooden ceiling and modern furniture. It’s worth the walk from the centre, and close to the Souk and the cathedral. We’ll be back
