All of Salzburg with one ticket? The Salzburg Card

We recently picked up two 72-hour Salzburg cards and found that they did really live up to their tagline… All of Salzburg with one ticket.

Many city cards are quite limited: we’ve often queued then found that we couldn’t even get into the attraction with the card we had, or there was a paltry 10-20% discount. But almost every place we wanted to go was covered with this card. It’s an impressive line-up:

  • Catacombs
  • Festival halls tour
  • Folklore museum
  • Hellbrunn Palace and trick fountains

  • Mozart’s birthplace
  • Mozart’s residence
  • Mozart sound and film collection
  • Mönchsberg Lift
  • Museum of Modern Art Mönschsberg
  • Museum of Modern Art Rupertinum
  • Museum of Natural History
  • Panorama Museum
  • Salzach River Cruise
  • Salzburg Museum

Discounts are also available at a huge range of other places: we visited the Open Air Museum and — in Germany! — the salt mine tour at Berchtesgaden.

We also made heavy use of the public transport options to get to- and from- places outside of town and as a short-cut to get from Villa Cicubo to our couchsurfing host on the outskirts of town.

As we publish reviews, we’ll be linking to them from here, but I’m sure you can see we did a lot with the card in three days.

We found you started to save money after two attraction entrances per day, if you’re not taking advantage of the public transport — then you save an additional €1.60 per ride or more.

Cards are available from many hotels, the tourist offices, and online. Activate them by writing your name, start date, and start time… then you’re off.
